Founded in the UK by Roshni Shah in honour of her son, Arjun Jay, AJB Foundation was created with a simple purpose: to help give children opportunities to learn, grow and thrive through education and sustainable community initiatives.
In partnership with Books & Beyond, AJB Foundation is supporting the creation of a new school library at Vitale H.G.M. Comprehensive School in Kathonzweni, Makueni County.
As part of this initiative, Roshni led an extensive book drive in the UK, bringing together the generosity of families and communities to collect more than 2,000 books for children in Kenya.
The books were shipped from the UK to Kenya, where Books & Beyond is cataloguing and organising the collection by age, reading level and educational suitability. Books suited to Vitale H.G.M. form part of its new library collection, while the rest are redistributed to other schools in need — extending the reach of the drive to even more young readers.
Beyond the book drive, AJB Foundation is supporting the development of the Vitale library itself. Together with Books & Beyond and the Vitale school community, the Foundation is helping transform an underused space into a welcoming, well-equipped and sustainable learning environment where children can discover the joy of reading, explore new ideas and broaden their horizons.
The Vitale library marks AJB Foundation’s first project in partnership with Books & Beyond, and the beginning of a shared commitment to expanding educational opportunities for children and school communities.
Established in honour of one little boy, AJB Foundation hopes to create opportunities that will positively shape the lives of many more children for years to come.
