Intern With Books & Beyond

Help children fall in love with reading. Mentor, catalogue, and breathe life into school libraries — whether you are young, a student, a professional, or anywhere in the world.

Your Role

What Interns Do

Books & Beyond interns are at the heart of every library transformation. You work directly with children and school staff to make reading a daily habit.

  • Lead reading sessions

Facilitate structured read-alouds and discussion circles for students.

  • Mentor children

Build one-on-one reading relationships with students who need extra support.

  • Catalogue & organise books

Sort, label, and catalogue donated books to keep the library running smoothly.

  • Log activities

Record daily sessions, attendance, and impact notes on the platform.

  • Maintain the library

Keep the space welcoming, tidy, and stocked for daily student use.

🏡 Accommodation during the internship

Books & Beyond is a charity-run initiative, and managing operational costs allows us to serve more schools. Our internships are based at rural school locations in Kenya. If you are able to arrange your own accommodation nearby during your placement, it would make a meaningful difference to our ability to sustain the programme — but this is entirely optional and will not affect your application in any way.
