Help Us Make Room to Read

Two schools in rural Makueni County have 1,350 learners between them and nowhere to read. A library is more than four walls and shelves — and these spaces do not simply happen. Someone has to make the room.

A library is a welcoming space where children discover books, explore new ideas, build confidence and dream beyond their world. Books & Beyond, together with A is for Africa, is creating libraries for two schools in Makueni County, Kenya:

  • Makutano Primary & Junior School — 453 learners
  • Kathonzweni AIC Boarding Primary School — 900 learners
  • Around 45 to 50 learners in every class

Three ways to help

  • Donate books — new or gently used
  • Support the library — renovations, furniture or resources
  • Open a world of possibility for children in Makueni County

Give securely through M-Changa, Kenya's verified fundraising platform:

Make room to read. Make room to dream. Today a reader, tomorrow a leader.
