The Campaign

We are raising resources — books, funds, materials — to complete the Kathonzweni Library. The space will serve as a public learning sanctuary, nurturing literacy, creativity, and curiosity.

Your support will go toward construction, furnishing, book stocking, technology access, and community programming.

How the library is managed: clear roles & shared ownership

Ownership & Oversight

The library is owned by the school and dedicated solely to learning. Oversight is provided by a local committee including the Principal, a retired headteacher, and a church representative.

Supported by the PTA through a small termly maintenance fee.

Systems & Accountability

Book lending is tracked by teachers and student volunteers, supported by registers and logs. The project ensures legal compliance, child protection, and data privacy standards.

Transparency is maintained through updates on booksandbeyondonline.org.

Youth Leadership

Surina and Keisha lead events, peer mentoring, and progress updates. This fosters child-led action, creativity, and a deep sense of responsibility and pride in the library’s mission.

Parent & Community Involvement

  • Parents help manage funds, organize events, and oversee governance roles.
  • Volunteers assist during reading sessions and literacy programs.
  • Surina’s family offers accommodation for visiting youth leaders and collaborators.
